The Calgary motorcyclist accused of fleeing a traffic stop at speeds up to 200 km/h remains in custody while he looks for a lawyer.

Duty counsel Bob Haslam appeared in Calgary Court of Justice on Monday on behalf of Joshua Daniel Poirier and asked that the case be adjourned to Wednesday.

“I don’t require his attendance (in court),” Haslam told Justice Sean Dunnigan.

“If the matter could come back Wednesday … so he can obtain counsel,” Haslam said.

The lawyer waived reading of the eight charges Poirier faces, including dangerous driving.

Poirier, 33, was arrested last Thursday after a motorcyclist fled an attempted traffic stop .
