CHICAGO (WGN) — An investigation is underway after a male victim was shot during an altercation on Chicago’s South Side Monday morning.

Chicago police say a male victim, whose age is unknown, and a male offender were in a verbal altercation just after 6:45 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Stony Island Avenue.

The altercation escalated when the offender pulled out a gun and shot the victim, striking him in the body multiple times, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

Police say there are no offenders in custody. Area Two detectives are investigating.
