MADISON (WKOW) — Child care providers throughout Wisconsin have started to receive funds through the Child Care Bridge Payments Program aimed at stabilizing child care in the state.

The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF), along with the Office of Gov. Tony Evers, announced Monday the delivery of $8.7 million to over 3,100 child care providers statewide. It's the first payment from the Child Care Bridge Payments Program.

Evers emphasized the importance of these payments, stating, "This first monthly payment alone will help care for over 126,000 Wisconsin kids by supporting over 3,000 child care providers and helping retain over 25,000 child care workers—this is a big deal for Wisconsin."
