Veterinarians on Monday removed a dart from a cat's body after it was struck by a blowgun in Hallandale Beach.

According to Good Karma Pet Rescue, on Aug. 13, a volunteer who had been taking care of the cat for seven years was delivering food and water and noticed a dart had pierced its backside.

"She found him in the bushes, and he was hiding and terrified," Jodi Daughtry said. "He wouldn’t come out, she worked for several days to trap him so she could bring him to us and we can help save his life."

Attempts to grab the cat were unsuccessful, so the rescue set up humane traps.

After the cat was safely captured, it was taken to the veterinarian's office, where the staff treated it.
