(Mike Krukow recently described the team as “ unraveling” and “ugly .” Alex Pavlovic called the team’s performance “ atrocious, horrible ” and “unacceptable.”) Last week, third baseman Matt Chapman expressed remorse about the Giants’ poor play.

“Obviously, we haven’t been able to get much going,” he said after losing to the Tampa Bay Rays, “and I feel bad for our fans because they come out here and they support us every single night. They pay their own money to come see us, and we haven’t been playing good baseball for them.”
