NEW YORK (PIX11) — With the first day of school fast approaching, New York City Public Schools is urging parents to ensure their children are up to date with vaccinations.

Children from two months to 18 years old entering or attending childcare, public school, or private school must be vaccinated against certain diseases.

All students • The DTaP (diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis) • Poliovirus • MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) • Varicella • Hepatitis B

Children under 5 enrolled in child care and pre-kindergarten • Hib (Haemophilus influenza type b) • PCV (pneumococcal conjugate) • Influenza (flu) - Children must receive the flu vaccine by the end of December for the current school year. It becomes available in early fall.

Children in grades 6-12 • The Tdap booster (by grade 6)
