A box jellyfish advisory has been issued this morning for Waikiki beaches.
The advisory was issued via HNL Alert about 8:15 a.m. today. Signs have been posted.
The box jellyfish, also known as box jellies, can leave painful stings upon contact, and have been observed both in the water and along the shorelines at Waikiki beaches, officials said.
“Always check with a lifeguard for the latest beach and ocean conditions,” said the alert. “In an emergency, call 911.”
