An Oxford County township wants to break away from the embattled Thames Valley District school board, passing a motion calling for the creation of a county school board.

“(We ask) alternate structures be considered to more effectively and efficiently serve the students and communities of Zorra Township,” read the motion moved by Zorra Mayor and Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan.

Ryan, attending the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa, told The Free Press Monday the resolution was passed in July and won support from Oxford County last week.
