The Detroit Tigers reinstated right-handed reliever Alex Lange from the 60-day injured list on Monday, marking his return to the big leagues after a 15-month absence.
Left-hander Bailey Horn was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.
Lange tore the latissimus dorsi tendon (lat) while pitching for Triple-A Toledo on June 14, 2024, and later underwent an avulsion procedure to repair the injury. He began his rehab in June and has logged 15 innings in the minor leagues over the last two months.
“His stuff was trending up, which is great,” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said. “He was bouncing back, which is probably the most important thing. That kind of cleared him from the rehab into competition.”
Lange, 29, was acquired from the Chicago Cubs in the 2019 Nick Castellanos trade
