JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Prosecutors for the state of Florida announced in court Monday plans to seek the death penalty after a suspect involved in the New Year's Day shooting of a 14-year-old was indicted for first degree murder.

The suspect, 24-year-old Emanuel Cuff , was indicted on Thursday, Aug. 14 for the charge.

Cuff one of ten suspects to be arrested in the death of 14-year-old Micah Thomas, who was fatally shot on the evening of Jan. 1, 2024. At the time of his arrest, Cuff was already in federal custody on unrelated charges.
