A Trenton man who killed his cellmate at South Woods State Prison nearly six years ago was sentenced to life in prison Monday, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office said.
Anthony Cole, 40, was convicted June 12 in the death of Keyon Wade, 25, of North Brunswick, Middlesex County.
Cole has been in prison since 2017, serving a 20-year sentence for attempted murder out of Middlesex County, records show.
Superior Court Judge Niki Arbittier ordered the life sentence run consecutive to his present sentence.
Wade was found unresponsive in his cell at the prison in Bridgeton with severe head trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the Prosecutor's Office said Monday in a news release.
