NEW HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven police said they are now investigating an early-morning shooting Monday as a homicide.

Police responded to the shooting around 4:46 a.m. in the area of Ferry Street and River Street.

In a post on X at 7:55 a.m., police described the victim's condition as "life threatening." They said in an update at 4:12 p.m. that the shooting has now become fatal.

Police have not released the identity of the victim at this time.

A separate shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. in the area of Shelton Avenue, police said. A 33-year-old New Haven man had non-life-threatening injuries.
