TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A murder for hire plot that stunned Tallahassee and has captured the nation’s attention for more than a decade will be front and center again this week at the Leon County Courthouse.
Starting Tuesday, Donna Adelson , 75, is expected to stand trial for conspiracy, solicitation and murder in the July 2014 shooting death of her former son-in-law, FSU law professor Dan Markel .
Markel was gunned down behind the wheel of his car as he pulled into the garage of his Betton Hills home. Prosecutors contend Markel was killed in a murder for hire scheme fueled by a bitter custody battle over his two children.
