PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - One person is dead and another hospitalized after a scooter they were riding was struck by a semi-truck early Sunday morning, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Officers were called to the scene of the crash on Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard at Northeast Holladay Street, near the Oregon Convention Center, shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, they found one victim dead and another in serious condition after being hit by the truck.
The deceased was identified by police on Monday as 24-year-old Gerardo A. Ortiz Henriquez of Portland.
The other victim, who police say was operating the scooter, is expected to recover.
Police said Sunday that the driver of the truck did not stop at the scene, but was followed by a witness.
