Hurricane Erin has been upgraded to a category 4 storm , with sustained winds up to 130 mph as of Monday.
The storm is currently over the Atlantic Ocean, and is expected to pound the Carolina coast with dangerous surf and riptides.
And while the hurricane has rapidly intensified , Pennsylvanians aren’t expected to feel much of the effects that are predicted to hammer the coast.
Aaron Tyburski, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in State College, said that “any effects for Pennsylvania will be minimal at best.”
“The closest we’ll get to any direct effects would be over the Outer Banks of North Carolina, in that area,” Tyburski said, noting high surf and wind gusts that will hit the coastline.
