OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Three heavy hitters in the energy world are teaming up to meet growing demand.

Tennessee Valley Authority, Google and California-based Kairos Power announced a collaboration Monday that hopes to address America's growing energy demands.

TVA will eventually buy nuclear power from the Kairos power plant in Oak Ridge. That power will supply energy to TVA's power grid. That grid powers Google data centers in Tennessee and Alabama.

"The set of agreements really is a novel commercial partnership that allows for innovation to proceed more quickly in the region," said Kairos Power CEO Mike Laufer.

As AI rapidly advances, companies are trying to keep up with energy demands, Laufer said.
