Brent Key admits "we’re not close" as Colorado opener looms

Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key didn’t hold back after the Yellow Jackets wrapped up their final scrimmage of preseason camp over the weekend.

“We went 125 plays. I was planning to go about 100, but the first hundred looked like dog crap,” Key said. The Jackets fought through extremely hot conditions, with 94 degrees in the air and 115 on the turf, but Key was not impressed with how his team performed.

“I don’t think we’re anywhere close to being ready to play a football game,” he admitted. “Way too many penalties, way too many turnovers, way too many blown assignments, way too many guys that either didn’t play or tapped out for, you know, aches and pains and things you have to play through.
