BATTLE CREEK — On the final hole of the Cal-Am Championship, first-round leader Chris Voegler was in the woods off of his tee shot, and seemingly in big trouble.
But, a championship-level up-and-down shot, off of a tree branch, put him close enough to the green to eventually save par and save his chance at his second Cal-Am title.
Voegler held on in the final holes to win the 48th annual Calhoun County Amateur Golf Tournament at Binder Park Golf Course Sunday.
Voegler, who had a three-shot lead after Saturday's first round, carded a one-under-par 71 on championship Sunday for a two-day score of 136. It was good enough for a one-shot victory over second-place Paul Koski, who had a 69.
