The first round of the 105th Wisconsin State Open was shortened due to storms Aug. 18, with 36 golfers in the 186-player field needing to finish their rounds Aug. 19.
A few players took advantage of the right side of the draw, however, including all the leaders.
Oconomowoc professional Sam Weatherhead , who played at Michigan State from 2013-17, made seven birdies against one bogey to take the outright lead with a 6-under par 66 on the Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.
Weatherhead is looking for his first State Open title. He finished 10 th in 2024 after he was tied for the lead heading into the final round.
Weatherhead birdied the par-4, 18 th hole to take a one-shot lead over 2023 champion Cameron Huss . Huss, who won the event as an amateur and is now a
