GAINESVILLE — Florida quarterback DJ Lagway , who has battled injuries throughout 2025 , took his biggest step Monday during fall camp as Week 1 looms.

Lagway handled snaps with the first-team offense during 11-on-11 drills for the first time since the Gators opened preseason practice July 30, “which is obviously good,” coach Billy Napier said.

UF’s sophomore star did not scrimmage Saturday as he continues to recover from a left calf injury suffered prior to fall camp. But Napier said Lagway has handled a generous workload, just not in a full team setting.

“[He] didn’t scrimmage but did quite a bit of work that day,” Napier told reporters following the team’s 15th of 17 preseason practices, which conclude Wednesday. “He’s feeling much better and he’s moving around well.”
