SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - A Sparks couple made their first court appearance on Monday after being arrested earlier this month in connection with the death of their 3-month old son.

Bail was set at $250,000 each for Hailey Moniz and Giovonnye Hart during today’s hearing. Prosecutors requested a no bail hold for both defendants. Meanwhile, defense attorneys requested that Moniz be released on her own recognizance with GPS monitoring with testing, and a reasonable amount of bail with supervised contact or no contact with children for Hart.

Moniz and Hart were booked into the Washoe County Jail on August 7 and charged with first-degree murder in perpetration or attempted perpetration of abuse of a child under 14 years of age and child neglect.
