MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - It’s official: Mark Jantzer is Minot’s newest mayor.
Canvassing took place on Monday to certify the results.
Jantzer was sworn in during his first city council meeting as mayor on Monday evening.
He received 2,351 votes out of the 5,516 total votes cast.
Jantzer started on the council in 2008 and has served as acting mayor since April.
He acknowledged the voters, his wife and the three other men who ran with him: Josiah Roise, Paul Pitner and Rob Fuller.
“I’d like to thank the other candidates for running. It takes courage and conviction to run for an office like this, and we had four candidates, and so I’m grateful for that,” said Jantzer.
He’ll fulfill the remaining term as mayor through next June.
The council has one open seat to fill.
