GRAND FORKS — With two golfers in the top three and five in the top 20, West Fargo Sheyenne continued its dominance at Grand Forks County Club on Monday for its fifth consecutive victory to open the season.

While Grand Forks Red River matched the Mustangs with three golfers inside the top 10, the Roughriders took a third-place finish for the third meet in a row.

As the quality of girls golf continues to climb in North Dakota, the chase for the players and teams at the top becomes even more challenging.

“So many (players) are shooting scores right now," Red River coach Eric Sanders said. "If you go back and look at scores from not that long ago, four or five years, you’d be like ‘Oh, we would have won all those meets right there."
