WASHINGTON — Exactly one week after the President Donald Trump ordered federal authorities and troops into the District, more homeless encampments were cleared out in the district.

The move, sparking mixed reactions from the people who lived in them, to the people who live nearby to advocates for those experiencing homelessness.

On New York Avenue near H Street in Northwest, city crews from the MPD and the DC Department of Public Works dismantled another tent encampment Monday. For Joyce, who has been living on the street for months, the scene was devastating.

"The president's treating us like we're criminals. I'm not a criminal," she said. "On TV, he said, 'Oh, we're gonna get rid of these homeless bums.' I ain't no bum. I work. Where's my tax money I put in when I was working?"
