HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday morning for a new fire station in Huntington’s Westmoreland community.

Located along Piedmont Road, it has been in the works for more than two decades.

Fire crews said the station will help with response times and give first responders a little relief during those long shifts.

Construction is expected to take about a year.
