CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Oscar Smith picked up last season exactly where they left off — with a win. The Tigers ran the table, finishing unbeaten (15-0) and securing the Class 6 state championship. But for a program built on sustained success, one title isn’t enough.

This fall, the Tigers return a veteran group led by wide receiver Travis Johnson and junior quarterback Lonnie Andrews. Both know that the biggest challenge isn’t just reaching the top — it’s staying there.

“It’s harder to get back up there,” Andrews said. “Now instead of hunting, you’re being hunted. Knowing that we won a state championship last year, our coaches preach to us every day that what happened last year doesn’t matter.”
