The National Weather Service released an updated high surf advisory at 3:16 a.m. on Tuesday valid from Wednesday 6 a.m. until Thursday 6 p.m. for Suffolk and Nassau counties.

"Large breaking waves of 7 to 11 feet expected in the surf zone on Wednesday and 11 to 15 feet expected on Thursday," comments the weather service. "More widespread beach erosion is possible with the Thursday evening and Friday morning high tide cycles. The High Surf Advisory and High Rip Current Risk will likely need to be extended through Friday with future updates."
