HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) — A fifth person has died from Legionnaires' disease in New York City, according to health officials.

The New York City Health Department announced updated numbers Monday, days after a fourth person died as a result of the disease in the city's central Harlem neighborhood.

On Thursday, NYC officials announced that 12 cooling towers were decontaminated of the Legionella bacteria.

As of Monday, the number of confirmed cases rose to 108 from the previously reported 99, and 14 people are currently hospitalized with the disease.
