Well folks, it's been a challenging stretch of weather, but we're starting to see a shift in our forecast pattern here in Southern Illinois and the broader Mid-Mississippi River Valley. We've endured another day of dangerously hot conditions, with heat indices soaring between 100 and 108 degrees this afternoon. This sustained heat has kept our Heat Advisory in effect for good reason, making outdoor activities quite risky. We've also been keeping a close eye on the sky for potential thunderstorms, and indeed, scattered storms are expected this afternoon, some carrying the threat of strong, even damaging, straight-line wind gusts. This will be something we'll be monitoring closely throughout the day.
