WASHINGTON — Get ready for more water charges. DC Water is tacking on new fees starting Oct. 1, becoming the latest utility company in the area to get more expensive for District residents.

DC Water claims the new fees will help them cover more than just regular water and sewer usage, including expedited service requests, meter relocation, installing or disconnecting water taps and more.

Starting in October, returned repayment fees are rising for customers, meter inspection fees are also increasing and restaurants and bars that serve food will now face fats, oils and grease (FOG) fees.

For companies and developers, construction inspection fees will no longer be reimbursable, there will be new fees for meter relocation, and new fees for plan reviews submitted in in ProjectDox.
