Hurricane Erin is expected to bring life-threatening surf and rip currents to the Eastern U.S. coast this week, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Erin is a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph.
As of 11 p.m., Erin was located about 585 miles west-southwest of Bermuda and had a minimum central pressure of 959 mb. The hurricane is moving north-northwest at about 12 mph.
Erin is forecast to substantially grow in size while moving over the western Atlantic throughout the week.
Outer bands of Erin will continue to produce heavy rainfall across Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas on Tuesday night.
Tropical storm conditions are possible in the North Carolina Outer Banks beginning later Wednesday.
