More than two years after a deadly shooting at a MetroWest apartment complex, the family of the victim is still searching for justice.

Orlando police this month released new video of a suspect in the killing of 32-year-old Nyion Ponteen. Investigators say Ponteen was shot and killed around 1 a.m. on July 10, 2023, at the Metro Place Apartments on Kirkman Road.

Ponteen’s brother, Imron, who lives in the United Kingdom, said the family’s wait for answers has been long and emotional. He stressed that his younger brother mattered deeply to his family and community and that they want to see accountability.

He said he is encouraged to see police still pursuing the case after so much time has passed, adding that he had not expected the investigation to remain active but is grateful it has.
