A U.K. man died earlier this month after being bitten by a venomous spider he bought online, according to his family.
Mark Anthony Kirby, 38, of Merseyside, England, died on Aug. 2. according to the Liverpool Echo. His family said he purchased the spiders online weeks several prior to his death.
“He had bought five spiders online two or three weeks before and was obsessed,” Kayleigh Gill, his former partner and mother of his two children, said to the news outlet.
Kirby had been bitten by one of them shortly before traveling with Gill and another family member to Scotland on July 26. He complained about feeling unwell but was still “playing pranks” during a dinner.
