ENUMCLAW, Wash. — The White River Bridge between Buckley and Enumclaw is closed until further notice after a semi-truck crashed into the bridge and caused extensive damage Monday.
A signed detour is in place for travelers using state Routes 164, 18, 167 and 410. The detour can add up to 45 minutes of travel, according to the city of Enumclaw.
Pedestrians and bicyclists are not allowed on the bridge in addition to cars.
The Enumclaw Fire Department said its fire crews had to use the detour to get around the closure as well.
“We know the issue is not solved and also that it’s going to cause a commuting nightmare in all our near futures,” the department said in a Facebook post.
The bridge carries an average of 22,099 vehicles per day.
