This year's theme? Dairy For Good -- Nourish, grow, thrive.
The sculpture -- crafted for the 23rd year by Jim Victor and Marie Pelton -- is said to celebrate the joy and nourishment dairy provides at every stage of life. It is inspired by the 125th anniversary of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and its local Chittenango author, L. Frank Baum.
"Dairy defies gravity" can be seen across the centerpiece of the sculpture, a hot air balloon. Inside, a cow sits with its own version of "ruby heels."
Three smaller figures can be seen below the balloon, each at a stage of life and with a form of dairy.
