The Indianapolis Colts are going with experience over youth.

Daniel Jones will begin the season as the team's starting quarterback over Anthony Richardson, Colts head coach Shane Steichen announced Tuesday .

Jones was signed to a one-year, $14 million deal in the offseason, with the expectation that he would compete against the 2023 fourth overall pick Richardson for the starting job.

The 23-year-old Richardson has struggled in the NFL , both with injuries and inconsistent play. He played just four games as a rookie before a shoulder injury ended his season, then he was benched mid-season last year for Joe Flacco.
