A “large” care home can be built as part of a 400-home development in Coalville . The 66-bed centre is set to form part of the wider Standard Hill project , in Hugglescote.

The housing development was approved by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) in 2018, with fresh plans to add the care home to the plan revealed last year. Now, planning officers at NWLDC have given their approval for the facility.

They said it will help meet a growing national “demand” for care beds. The three-storey building will be located on what is “vacant grassland” which had been set to see 24 new homes built on it.
