LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has joined 21 other attorneys general in filing a lawsuit against the Trump Administration for blocking congressionally authorized grants for the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA).
The Michigan Department of Attorney General reports that the Trump Administration will withhold these grants unless states support their "political agenda", specifically immigration enforcement policies.
The VOCA was signed into law in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan, creating grant programs to provide resources and services to victims and survivors of crimes.
