A car dramatically ploughed into a Midlands home while a family were inside.

The living room was left wrecked after the vehicle smashed into the property in the early hours of the morning.

The family were sleeping upstairs at the time of the shocking ordeal.

Police suspect the person behind the wheel lost control at a roundabout before mounting a kerb and crashing into the property.

Although no one was injured, 'significant damage' has been caused to the house.

The driver abandoned the car and fled the scene, police said.

Officers searched the area before arresting a suspect.

The incident happened in Flamsteed Road, Strelley, Nottinghamshire, at about 1am on Sunday, August 17.
