RAPID CITY, So. Dak. (KAKE) - A South Dakota-based energy provider that services parts of Kansas has announced a merger.

Black Hills Energy, based in Rapid City, has announced it will merge with Sioux Falls-based NorthWestern Energy to form a large $7.8 billion regulated electric and natural gas utility company. The merger is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
