MIAMI GARDENS — The Miami Dolphins named Jake Bailey the winner of their preseason punting competition on Tuesday.
Bailey, Miami’s incumbent punter from the past two seasons, retained the job over newcomer Ryan Stonehouse, who was previously under new Dolphins special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman with the Tennessee Titans.
“We decided to move on with the punting situation. Jake Bailey ended up winning it,” said Aukerman after Tuesday’s light practice.
“Hats off to both of those guys. They did a really good job, competitive every single day. Really proud of them. I know Ryan’s going to be punting somewhere in the National Football League.
