We’re keeping a close eye on Hurricane Erin .

While the storm is not forecast to make landfall in the U.S., the hurricane will still create problems along the East Coast , including for us right here in New England .

In fact, as Erin continues to churn in the Atlantic and track north, the storm will create a swell in the ocean, giving way to dangerous conditions up and down the East Coast. High surf and dangerous rip currents will be the two biggest concerns for us here in the Commonwealth, especially our south-facing beaches.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect for the Cape, the Islands and the Rhode Island coast until Thursday evening. Waves could get as high as 13 feet in the surf zone in parts of our area
