A front of cooler air is forecast to bring lower temperatures and scattered rain chances to the state on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said. Another front of cooler air is expected to enter the state over the weekend, keeping temperatures cooler into next week.

Colby Pope, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in North Little Rock, said that temperature highs for much of the state are forecast to drop into the low to mid-90s.

"We could see those temperatures around through early next week," Pope said Tuesday morning. "We might finish August with temperatures slightly below average."

Temperatures in the mid to upper-80s might even be possible next week, Pope said. Overnight lows could be in the mid to lower 60s.
