An inmate was among two people arrested for allegedly conspiring and bringing drugs into a San Bernardino County jail last month.

The investigation into Jose Ramirez, a 41-year-old inmate at the High Desert Detention Center, began on July 16 after the authorities determined that he and another man, 35-year-old Alfred Johnson of Victorville, had conspired to smuggle drugs into the facility, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department stated.

"Investigators conducted a thorough investigation, which led to a search warrant that was served on August 8, 2025, at a residence in Hesperia, where various controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were confiscated," the Sheriff's Department said.
