SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — In June, the City Council approved the purchase of a new pothole patrol vehicle.

This fall, a citywide "Pothole Patrol" initiative is seeking to improve pothole repair response time. The patrol will operate year-round in a rotating schedule repairing potholes in the streets of Savannah.

This is meant to ensure complete coverage of the city to improve consistency, response time, and overall roadway conditions, according to the City.

On Tuesday, Mayor Van Johnson announced in his weekly address that the city partnered with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) for an internal contest where students in grades K-8 will be able to suggest a name for the new truck.
