NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — A hit-and-run with a semi truck in North Fort Myers on Tuesday left a Bradenton man with minor injuries and a totaled car.
The Florida Highway Patrol said it happened early Tuesday morning, at around 1:30 a.m., on Interstate 75 near Bayshore Road.
A semi truck was on the outside shoulder of northbound I-75 while an SUV was traveling north.
The semi then entered the travel lanes from the shoulder, into the path of the SUV, causing it to collide with the rear left trailer of the truck.
After the crash, which left the SUV with heavy damage, the semi continued north on I-75, and its location is now unknown.
The man driving the SUV sustained minor injuries in the crash, FHP said.
