The Mt. Hope High School football team began its formal preparations for the upcoming 2025 season last week, but for many of the Huskies they've been grinding for this fall since the end of last year.
That prep included weight training since the calendar switched and a stint over the summer in the annual 7-on-7 passing league, which took on a bit more significance than usual because Mt. Hope enters its next campaign with a new signal-caller under center.
Two-year starter and co-captain Ethan Martel graduated this past spring, leaving an opening at the all-important quarterback position. The Huskies spent the summer and continue during the preseason developing his replacement from a trio of potential starters: senior Jayden Martin along with juniors Cam Oliver and Will Franc
