The Powerball jackpot has surged to $643 million, with a cash option of $290.6 million, following a drawing on Monday night that did not produce a winner. This amount is now the highest jackpot of the year. The next drawing is scheduled for Wednesday night.
In the latest drawing, the winning numbers were 15, 46, 61, 63, 64, and the red Powerball number was 1. Although there was no grand prize winner, two players—one from Arizona and another from Texas—each won $1 million.
This drawing marked the 34th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner since May 31, when a ticket holder in California won $204.5 million. The upcoming jackpot is the largest since April 2024, when an Oregon resident won $1.3 billion.
Powerball tickets are available in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. Players can buy $2 tickets at various locations, including gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores, and select airport terminals.
Despite the enticing jackpot, the odds of winning the top prize remain challenging at 1 in 292.2 million. However, the overall odds of winning any prize are more favorable at 1 in 24.9. Players choose five numbers from a pool of 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. Random number options are also available.
Powerball offers eight additional prize tiers, with winnings ranging from $4 to $1 million. Players can increase their non-jackpot winnings by opting for the "Powerplay" feature for an additional dollar, which can multiply prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 10 times. The 10X multiplier is only applicable for jackpots under $150 million, and the second-tier "Match 5" prize is capped at $2 million when using Powerplay.
Some jurisdictions also provide a "Double Play" option, which is a $1 add-on feature that gives players a second chance to match numbers after each drawing. Powerball drawings take place at 10:59 p.m. ET on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with live streaming available.
