MILWAUKEE — The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be heading to Milwaukee Thursday to assess the flood damage from the Aug. 9-11 storms that inundated neighborhoods and cut power to many residents, officials said.

The severe weather swept across southeastern Wisconsin and forced the Wisconsin State Fair to close early on Aug. 9.

The National Weather Service reported that multiple counties in southeast Wisconsin experienced historic rainfall over the weekend, with some areas of Milwaukee and Waukesha counties receiving over 10 inches of rain.

State officials and FEMA teams, including Preliminary Damage Assessment teams, will interview renters, homeowners and business owners to document losses and gather detailed damage information.
