PORTAGE, Wis. -- A Portage police officer is charged with child abuse, online court records show.
Cameron Coronado, 32, is also charged with disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier.
Online records show a special prosecutor was appointed for the case. In a phone call, Portage Police Chief Keith Klafke said the Sauk County Sheriff's Office was handling the investigation and that Coronado is in custody.
"His actions aren't representative of the great men and women serving in the Portage Police Department," Klafke told Channel3000.com
Klafke said Coronado was placed on paid administrative leave. Online records show he was booked into the Sauk County Jail at 5:31 p.m. CT Monday night. A court date in the case had not yet been set.
